About This Project
What is Linux?
In a nutshell, linux is an operating system just like Windows, the difference being that you get complete control with your system using Linux. This means everything is customizable, which gives birth to a rabithole known as ricing. Popularized by communities such as r/unixporn on reddit, people have been sharing their customized operating systems for years to date.
Why Care?
Ricing at the end of the day is an act of personal expression, but the journey to get there has taught me valuable knowledge, more specifically about how operating systems work as a whole. While useful for customization, this skill enables me to construct entirely new features or scripts within my system, optimizing workflows and tailoring the system to my exact needs.
My Setup
While people often post their own dotfiles (their exact customizations for you to download), I decided to make my own from the ground up. I went with an anime theme to show my love for some of my favourite franchises, this likely fits the archetype of an arch user anyways. Below are my specifications as well as visuals of my rice :)
Operating system: Arch Linux (btw) Wm: Hyprland Terminal: Kitty (bash) Text Editor: NeoVim + VsCode File Manager: Dolphin
Key features include: 1. From-scratch customization of the terminal (Kitty) with Starship for a clean and informative prompt 2. Dynamic color theming powered by hellwal (a fork of Pywal), integrated across terminal, Neovim, VS Code, Spotify, and more 3. Custom scripting to synchronize theme changes with wallpaper updates for a unified look across all applications
